12,000 MILE JOURNEY TO ASIA

In 2010 I researched areas that represented - to me - the furthest places from home. The Russian Arctic, Siberia, Mongolia, China and Tibet formed a 12,000-mile route on the world map.

Travelling alone and without interpreter, along roads and railways, bleakness and stark landscapes – together with a feeling of isolation – became underlying themes for this series of images.
